What is Kobido massage?

Japanese facial massage, natural lift, ancestral technique... Kobido intrigues as much as it appeals. Here's everything to know before your first session.

Kobido facial massage

An ancestral art born in Japan

Kobido ("the ancient way of beauty" in Japanese) is a traditional facial massage, practiced for centuries within Japan's imperial families before spreading around the world. Unlike a classic relaxing massage, Kobido follows a precise protocol, passed down from generation to generation, combining dozens of different movements: percussions, pressure points, effleurage and draining, performed in a strict order and rhythm.

A massage... but not like any other

What sets Kobido apart from a simple relaxing massage is its goal: toning and reshaping the features of the face, on top of providing deep relaxation. The fast, precise movements stimulate blood and lymphatic circulation, work on the facial acupuncture points, and engage the underlying muscles much like a targeted workout would. The result: a brighter complexion from the very first session, and a more defined facial oval with regular treatments.

At Éclat du Temps, Kobido is always paired with cosmetic acupuncture, for a complete protocol that works both deeply and on the surface. You can discover the full technique on our Techniques page.

The concrete benefits for skin and features

  • A brighter complexion, thanks to stimulated microcirculation.
  • A redefined facial oval, through deep work on tissue and muscle.
  • Firmer skin, with a renewed natural production of collagen and elastin.
  • Released tension built up in the jaw, forehead and neck.

You'll find each of these effects explained in detail on our Benefits page.

Kobido or Botox: what's the difference?

Kobido is neither an injection nor a medical procedure: it's a 100% natural, needle-free method that works by stimulating the skin's own resources rather than artificially freezing them. Results build gradually and call for a certain regularity, but they last over time and respect the face's natural mobility.

"A natural lift, with the secrets of the Orient."
